Hello, I’m Joanne, a nutritionist and former secondary school teacher who knows exactly how it feels to juggle the demands of a busy life. Having experienced the pressures of a demanding career and a hectic family life firsthand, I understand how modern stressors can leave us feeling overwhelmed. But I also know how transformative small, sustainable changes can be – because I’ve been there myself. That’s why I’m passionate about helping people feel happier, healthier, and more in control of their wellbeing.
My Story
My nutrition journey began with a love of healthy cooking and a passion for strength training and improving gym performance. However, it wasn’t until I faced my own health challenges that I truly realised the power of nutrition. In 2014, I reached a breaking point after years of overwork and constantly pushing myself caught up with me, leading to burnout. I struggled with thyroid disease, digestive problems, anxiety, and depression. I felt like I had lost who I was, and I knew I needed to make a change.
Working with a nutritional therapist transformed my health and my outlook on life. I not only regained my energy and vitality but also rediscovered a sense of balance and purpose. That experience inspired me to pursue a career change, retraining as a nutritionist so I could help others overcome the stress-related health challenges I once faced. Life will always be busy, but with the right support, our bodies and minds can handle it far better than we think.
At the end of 2024, after 25 years of teaching, I made the bittersweet decision to leave the classroom behind. Teaching was a career I adored and poured my heart into, but the relentless pressures were taking over my life. I came to realise that the education system no longer aligned with my values, and I needed to prioritise my own health and my family. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made, but it was also the right one.
Looking back, I see how easy it is to underestimate the impact of constant stress on our health and happiness. My goal now is to share my approach and what I’ve learned to support people to find balance and strength. Everyone deserves to feel their best – even when life gets busy – and it’s always an honour to help people take that first step towards a healthier, happier life.
